Noah Dettwiler missed the top 20 by just a tenth of a second on Friday in hot Styria though, he is all the more pleased about the good feeling at the start of the weekend.
Round eleven of the 2024 FIM Moto3™ World Championship at the Red Bull Ring in the green Styria began on Friday with midsummer temperatures, as you would expect in mid-August. Despite the strenuous conditions, Moto3™ rookie Noah Dettwiler was in good form on his return to the track where his motorcycle world championship adventure began a year ago.
The 19-year-old KTM rider finished 19th in the morning’s free practice, 1.6 seconds off the fastest time. Dettwiler also showed a very consistent performance in Practice One shortly after midday, when the sun was beating down relentlessly on the track. It was only in the very last minute that he slipped back from the top 20 to 22nd place. In the end, however, he improved his time by 0.3 seconds and reduced the gap to 1.4 seconds. A harmless crash in the final phase did nothing to change this. Dettwiler is looking forward to qualifying on Saturday with euphoria.

«I am happy because the feeling is really good. I also had a lot of fun out on track. I think that a bit more would have been possible in the afternoon session in terms of lap times. But I was not in a perfect group and did not manage a clean lap. Nevertheless, it was a positive session, especially because I was able to confirm my lap time myself afterwards. That means more is possible tomorrow. »
