For Noah Dettwiler, the first task on Friday in Aragón was to explore the properties of the new asphalt surface.
For round twelve of the 2024 FIM Moto3™ World Championship, the entire Grand Prix paddock travelled to the outback of Spain’s east coastline this week, where the battle for points will once again be fought at the selective MotorLand Aragón track. The weather conditions are similar to those recently experienced in Styria, Austria, with oppressively hot temperatures and high humidity.
For 19-year-old Noah Dettwiler, the external conditions on day one of practice were of secondary importance. It was mainly about getting used to the re-surface track, the construction work on which was only recently completed. The Moto3™ rookie from Switzerland got off to a good start in free practice and finished in 23rd place in the company of some experienced rivals.
In the afternoon’s first timed session, when the track conditions improved significantly, the KTM rider was almost two seconds faster than in the morning but had to settle for 26th place at the end of the day.

«Despite difficult track conditions, we had a good start to the weekend this morning. The conditions out there were a bit slippery as the surface was still quite dirty. Nevertheless, we did a good job by sticking to our plan throughout the session and stayed out with one tyre. However, I did not have such a good feeling in the second session. We will now look at the data to find out what the problem was. We also had some issues with the tyres in the afternoon. But I am confident that if we can find the causes based on the data recordings, we can make a good step forward tomorrow.»
