FIM Moto3™ World Championship – Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich
Red Bull Ring (Spielberg, Austria) | Wednesday, August 14th, 2024
This weekend, Noah Dettwiler returns to the place where his career as a Moto3™ World Championship rider began a year ago.
Last August, Noah Dettwiler got his first taste of Grand Prix experience at the championship’s visit to the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg amidst the picturesque backdrop of the Upper Styrian Alps. As a wildcard entry, he made a mark that opened the door to Moto3™ World Championship for him. Dettwiler concluded a good and faultless weekend with a respectable 20th place in the race.
In contrast to Silverstone, where the championship was raced at one of the longest tracks on the calendar the weekend before last, the Red Bull Ring in the valley of river Mur is one of the shortest. Nevertheless, one lap contains everything it needs for a technically demanding circuit with many uphill and downhill sections. For the most part, it is a stop-and-go track with mainly right-hand bends. However, there are also a few left-hand bends that are technically demanding.
Swiss television will be showing the race live on its «SRFzwei» channel Sunday. The broadcast begins at 10:50 CEST. Viewers from Switzerland and Austria will also be able to watch all of the weekend’s sessions on the video and streaming platform «ServusTV On», albeit with English commentary. In Germany, the broadcasts on Saturday and Sunday can be seen in a free live stream on ServusTV.com, while DF1 will also broadcast the Moto3 qualifying and the race on Sunday live. Alternatively, there is also the live stream on the official MotoGP website, where, as with every Grand Prix, all sessions of all classes will be streamed. However, a paid video pass is required for this. Another option for Germany is a paid subscription to Sky Sport.
#55 Noah DETTWILER (CIP Green Power, KTM RC4):
«I am really looking forward to this race weekend in Spielberg, a track that I have fond memories of. I had my first Grand Prix in Spielberg a year ago and returning now as a permanent entry in World Championship is a very special feeling. In addition, the Red Bull Ring is a track that I really like. Despite the few corners in the course of a lap, the layout is very technical. Especially because of the many stop-and-go sections. But in the last sector it becomes very fast and flowing. So, I am really looking forward to Spielberg and hopefully to seeing lots of Swiss fans, like last year. But the most important thing for me is to continue working with the team and make further progress. I am also grateful to have Tom by my side again this weekend. »
Tom LÜTHI (Sporting Coach):
«Red Bull Ring is a very cool track for Noah, and he is certainly looking forward to it. Last year, he took part in Spielberg with a wild card and did very well in the race as an absolutely newcomer. In general, the weekend went very well either. But this track has also always suited him well in the past. Basically, it is a very nice track. With mostly very positive memories, Noah’s aim must be to go into the weekend in positive mood, even if he is currently in a phase that is not easy for him to master. He is looking for more self-confidence, which is not something that can be achieved or found in the blink of an eye. We can support him from the outside and help him, but ultimately, he has to do his own work. He is also aware of that. I think it is good that he arrives to a track now where he has positive memories and can rebuild his self-confidence step by step. It will also be important to keep his own expectations and those of others as low as possible. The whole environment needs to keep its feet on the ground and give Noah the time he needs to complete his tasks and make steady progress. It makes no sense to expect more than the goals are. Noah should continue to work in a calm and focused manner. I will also be there this time and am looking forward to tackling the race weekend together with Noah. »
