Preview GP Aragón, MotorLand Aragón | «Save The Date» for Aragón comeback

FIM Moto3™ World Championship – Gran Premio de Aragón
MotorLand Aragón (Alcañiz, Spain) | Wednesday, August 28th, 2024

After a one-year break, FIM Moto3™ World Championship returns to MotorLand Aragón in the outback of the Spanish east coast this weekend.

Although the beautiful racing facility is located around a two and a half hours’ drive south-west of Barcelona is to some extent in no man’s land, Noah Dettwiler knows his way around the track not far from Alcañiz. The 19-year-old Swiss rider has already contested several races there in the highly competitive Junior World Championship and has also finished in the points on several occasions.

The Grand Prix in MotorLand Aragón slipped onto the World Championship calendar in 2010 rather by chance, although motorsport has a long tradition in the small city of Alcañiz. From the early 1960s until 2003, there were numerous races (car and motorcycle) at a street circuit in the middle of the small city of Alcañiz. Since the first visit of the World Championship, Aragón has developed into a popular event for riders and fans of other racing series as well. The 5.077 km long track with 17 corners was highly praised by the riders after the first Grand Prix in 2010.

Swiss television SRF will broadcast the race on Sunday via livestream on srf.ch and in its sports app. The broadcast is expected to start at 10:55 am. Viewers from Switzerland and Austria will also be able to watch all of the weekend’s sessions on the video and streaming platform «ServusTV On», albeit with English commentary. In Germany, the broadcasts on Saturday and Sunday can be seen in a free livestream on ServusTV.com, while DF1 will also broadcast the Moto3 qualifying and the race on Sunday live. Alternatively, there is also the livestream on the official MotoGP™ website, where, as with every Grand Prix, all sessions of all classes will be streamed. However, a paid video pass is required for this. Another option for Germany is a paid subscription to Sky Sport.

#55 Noah DETTWILER (CIP Green Power, KTM RC4):

«Aragón is a track that I know from previous years in Junior World Championship. It has a technically very demanding layout with many different corners. Over the course of a lap, there are some fast corners, but also some corners with a tight radius and tight chicanes with corresponding changes of direction. Overall, it is a very cool track, and I am looking forward to racing there again, even though it is supposed to be very hot this weekend. I am also looking forward to continuing the work with my team and continuing where there is still room for improvement.»
